Breakdown of the components in the ELEVEN Australia Miracle Spray

This product includes numerous moisturizing agents or humectants, including Glycerin, Panthenol, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Sorbitol, Butylene Glycol, and Propylene Glycol, to boost hydration. Typically, ingredients are listed by concentration from highest to lowest. In this formula, all components up to Phenoxyethanol are at or above 1%, with the rest below 1%. The placement of nearly all humectants prior to Phenoxyethanol indicates the product has strong moisturizing properties. Moisturization also contributes to hair’s elasticity, softness, and overall structure.

The spray also contains some emollients or lipids, which are present in high concentrations in this spray. For example, the spray contains Cetearyl Alcohol, a fatty alcohol that helps to detangle hair. A fatty acid ester in this spray ensures filling of the hair cortex, resulting in greater elasticity. Hydrolyzed Quinoa, present in the product, is a protein that can enter the deeper layers of the hair cuticle and develop a protective surface layer.

There are also ingredients within the ELEVEN Australia Miracle Spray that serve as occlusives or film-forming ingredients. Water-insoluble silicones like Dimethicone, Amodimethicone, and Trimethylsiloxysilicate help enhance hair shine, reduce tangling, smooth the cuticle, and protect hair from damage and external negative factors. However, occlusives predominantly serve to improve appearance, with minimal therapeutic benefit, and  provide some level of thermal protection.

This spray also contains cationic surfactants (i.e., Behentrimonium Methosulfate) in its ingredients, which help eliminate static from hair. Benzophenone-4 in the product offers some UV protection. The product appears suitable for most hair and scalp types.

Do the spray’s ingredients meet the producer’s promises?

The manufacturer promises that ELEVEN Australia Miracle Spray will hydrate your hair, enhance its shine, smoothness, softness, and natural volume, and also improve the look of dry, damaged hair. The product delivers its promised benefits because it contains a rich blend of humectants and occlusives that help achieve these results.

The product also claims to control frizz and flyaways, which is true as this product contains occlusives such as Amodimethicone, Dimethicone, and Trimethylsiloxysilicate that help reduce frizz.

Thanks to the proteins in its ingredients, this product is likely to help strengthen fragile hair, improve its health, reduce the likelihood of breakage and split ends, which also aligns with the manufacturer’s promises.

The manufacturer also mentions that the spraywill detangle hair and create manageability, and this is indeed the case, as the product contains Cetearyl Alcohol, a fatty alcohol that helps to detangle hair.

The claim that the product protects against heat styling is not fully supported since its ingredients lack typical heat protectant agents. Although Amodimethicone, Dimethicone, and Trimethylsiloxysilicate provide some thermal barrier, more effective heat protection products containing stronger ingredients may be suggested.

The inclusion of UV filters in the product indicates it offers some level of protection against sun-induced damage, as per the manufacturer’s promises.

The manufacturer also mentions that the product is free of parabens and gluten, as well as safe for coloured hair. The ingredients do not explicitly list common parabens. Therefore, the product appears to be paraben-free. There are also no ingredients derived from wheat, barley, rye, or other gluten-containing grains.  The product includes occlusives that indeed help to protect colored or treated hair.

My individual insights regarding the ELEVEN Australia Miracle Spray

I have hair with high porosity and a slight wave. The more porous the hair, the more vital finishing products like sprays are. Typically, the leave-in spray is applied  following the mask treatment. Severely damaged, porous, and bleached hair may need more than just one spray, possibly requiring the application of a leave-in oil or cream afterward.

Thus, after washing off my hair mask and towel-drying my hair, I applied the spray starting from the ends to ensure they received the maximum amount of product, as this area is the most vulnerable. I divided my hair into four or five sections, and, working with one strand at a time, I applied the spray from a distance of approximately 30 centimeters. After applying this spray, my hair felt smooth, manageable, and had a lovely scent.
