Breakdown of the components in the DSD de Luxe 5.1.1 Botox Hair Therapy Shampoo
The presence of gentle surfactants (such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Cocamide MEA) and moisturizing ingredients (such as Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Honey Extract, Propylene Glycol), suggests that this shampoo is suitable for normal and dry scalps, providing hydration and minimizing dryness or irritation.
DSD de Luxe 5.1.1 Botox Hair Therapy Shampoo appears to be a chelating shampoo due to the presence of Disodium EDTA and Magnesium Nitrate, which are formulated to remove mineral deposits, buildup, and impurities—characteristics typical of chelating shampoos. Cheating shampoos are especially beneficial for color-treated or chemically processed hair because they help eliminate mineral deposits and product buildup that can dull color.
The shampoo formula seems mild, but certain preservatives—namely Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, and Imidazolidinyl Urea—may cause sensitivities in some individuals. Those with highly sensitive or allergy-prone skin might consider patch testing before using the product.
The shampoo’s pH approximately 5.5 indicates that it is formulated to be close to the natural pH level of the scalp and hair.
To sum up, DSD de Luxe 5.1.1 Botox Hair Therapy Shampoo might not be the best choice for very oily scalps that require more cleansing or oil-control ingredients. For those with an oily scalp, shampoos targeting oil regulation are typically recommended, regardless of hair dryness or brittleness.
Do the DSD de Luxe 5.1.1 Botox Hair Therapy Shampoo’s ingredients meet the producer’s promises?
The manufacturer promises that the shampoo will restore and moisturize hair without weighing it down. Shampoo does contain humectants, which are ingredients meant to moisturize hair. However, because shampoos are rinsed out quickly, these humectants often don’t have enough time to work effectively.
It is assured by the manufacturer that the shampoo will manage frizz effectively. This shampoo includes occlusives/layer-formers such as Polyquaternium-10 and Quaternium-80, which indeed effectively eliminate static and reduce tangling in hair. There are also ingredients that can help improve elasticity, softness, and shine in shampoos, such as Panthenol, Honey Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Gluconolactone.
The manufacturer also claims that the product helps protect the hair cuticle and enhances its look, making it suitable for dry, brittle, and damaged hair. However, it’s essential to recognize that the primary function of shampoos is to cleanse the scalp. Conditioning, smoothing, and nourishing effects are mainly provided by conditioners, masks, balms, and leave-in treatments. Ingredients like humectants, extracts, and vitamins are mainly added to shampoos to reduce the harshness of surfactants. Thus, taking good care of dry and damaged hair involves more than just shampoo; using nourishing conditioners and hair masks is equally essential.
My individual insights regarding the product
Since I have an oily scalp, this shampoo isn’t ideal for me because I need a shampoo with stronger cleansing or oil-control properties.
